Exterior Detailing Checklist
01.
Pre-Wash & Rinse

Inspect the Exterior: Note any scratches, swirls, or other issues for repair or treatment.

Pre-Rinse: Spray the entire car with water to remove loose dirt and debris.

Apply Pre-Wash Foam: Use a snow foam cannon to break down surface contaminants and prevent scratching during washing.

Rinse Again: Remove foam and contaminants.

Wheels, Tires, & Wheel Wells

Apply Wheel Cleaner: Spray on a dedicated wheel cleaner; use a brush for tight areas.

Scrub Tires & Wheel Wells: Use a stiffer brush for tires and a softer brush for wheel wells.

Rinse Off All Residue: Ensure all chemicals are thoroughly rinsed to prevent residue.
03.
Hand Wash
-
Two-Bucket Wash Method: Use separate buckets for wash and rinse water to prevent scratching.

Use a Microfiber Mitt or Sponge: Work in small sections, moving from top to bottom.
-
Re-Wash Heavily Soiled Areas if Needed.
04.
Decontamination (Clay Bar Treatment)

Apply Lubricant: Spray lubricant generously over a section.

Use a Clay Bar or Mitt: Gently rub the clay bar in small sections to remove embedded contaminants.

Wipe Clean: Use a microfiber cloth to wipe each section as you go.
05.
Polishing & Paint Correction

Apply Polish: Use a machine polisher for even application; apply in a cross-hatch pattern.

Buff Off Residue: Use a soft microfiber cloth to remove excess polish and buff to a shine.

Inspect for Swirls or Defects: Re-polish any sections as needed.
06.
Paint Protection

Apply Sealant or Wax: Choose a sealant for longer protection or wax for a high gloss finish.

Buff to a Shine: Allow to cure as directed, then use a soft cloth to buff.

Add Ceramic Coating (if Applicable): Follow product instructions, as this step may require curing time.
07.
Glass & Mirrors

Apply Glass Cleaner: Spray a cleaner on windows and mirrors, both inside and out.

Use a Glass-Specific Microfiber Towel: Avoid streaks and ensure clarity.

Repeat if Necessary: For optimal shine and clarity, especially on windshields.
Interior Detailing Checklist
01.
Remove Loose Items & Trash

Empty All Compartments: Check glovebox, center console, door pockets, and trunk.

Remove Floor Mats: Take out mats for separate cleaning.
02.
Vacuuming

Vacuum Seats, Carpets, and Floor Mats: Use different attachments for tight areas.

Vacuum Crevices & Seams: Pay extra attention to seat seams, cupholders, and tight spots.

Trunk and Rear Cargo Area: Vacuum thoroughly.
03.
Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning

Spot Treatment: Pre-treat stains with an upholstery cleaner.

Steam Clean or Shampoo Carpets: Use a carpet cleaner or steam machine on carpets and seats if they are fabric.

Use Extractor (if applicable): Extract as much water and cleaner residue as possible.

Leather Care (if applicable)

Apply Leather Cleaner: Gently scrub seats with a soft brush.

Wipe with a Clean Microfiber Cloth.

Condition Leather: Use a leather conditioner to keep seats soft and prevent cracking.
05.
Plastics, Vinyl, and Trim

Dust All Surfaces: Use a soft brush or compressed air for vents and crevices.

Apply Interior Cleaner: Use a cleaner formulated for plastic and vinyl; apply with a microfiber cloth.

Apply UV Protectant: For dashboard and trim, apply a UV-protective conditioner to prevent fading and cracking.
06.
Interior Glass & Mirrors

Spray Glass Cleaner: Clean all interior windows and mirrors.

Use a Glass-Specific Cloth for Streak-Free Finish.
07.
Odor Elimination

Use an Ozone Machine (if applicable): To neutralize odors at the molecular level.

Air Freshener or Deodorizer: Use an air freshener or deodorizer of choice for a lasting fresh scent.
Final Touches
01.
Door Jambs & Hinges

Wipe Down with Cleaner: Clean and polish door jambs, trunk, and hood edges.
02.
Tire Shine & Dressing
-
Apply Tire Dressing: For a glossy finish, apply tire dressing evenly.
03.
Final Inspection

Walk Around the Vehicle: Check all surfaces and areas for any missed spots or imperfections.

Touch-Up as Needed: Address any small areas that need extra care.
